Latitude demarcates our place in the world. It is also the room we give ourselves, and in our next act, we have earned it.

As our responsibilities have evolved, our daily lives are more flexible, and we have more space to consider what we want for this next chapter in our lives. As Mary Oliver wrote, “what is it you plan to do with this one wild and precious life?”

It’s our turn. Certain Latitude is designed for women like us as we dive into this juncture in our lives. We crave adventure. Freedom. Connection. A change of pace. Fresh scenery. New people & stories to share.

We’ve got the latitude to venture out and explore the world — to widen our perspectives, stretch our minds and expand our horizons. What are you waiting for?

How we travel

What makes us stand out

Our itineraries are personally vetted to ensure we are staying in accommodations that are comfortable but unpretentious, always centrally situated and full of local flair, and days built at a pace you can actually enjoy.

  • 10–14 travelers, ages 40s–60s. A cozy group that fits around one long dining table for shared conversations.
  • We sleep inside the old cities, with a focus on small family-owned hotels that feel like part of the neighborhood rather than Western chains.
  • Our time on the road will not exceed four hours on a single day, and will take advantage of high speed rail where available.
  • Daily agendas with flexibility to either get more steps or sit and enjoy an afternoon coffee and pastry.
  • We will dine in carefully chosen restaurants with local specialties and accommodations for all dietary needs.
  • Most travelers will come on their own, but do invite friends to join us too!

Nicole Sorger on the old city walls above the sea, framed by stone

Nicole is a world traveler and writer with more than two decades of experience teaching global history — and a lifetime of experiencing it firsthand across dozens of countries.

Certain Latitude is a natural blend of Nicole’s passions: for the transformative power of travel, the ways history shapes our understanding of modern culture, and the deep connections women forge when they experience the world side by side.

Nicole curates these trips like she would her own — focusing on connection with local culture, days filled with exploration, long walks and leisure, staying in small family-run hotels with genuine character, and enjoying flavorful and delicious meals around large tables where stories are shared and memories are made.

Starting with a semester abroad in college, Nicole’s connection with Morocco was reignited when she created an original coexistence tour for students in 2015. She went on to modify the itinerary after an independent scouting trip, in which she added more cities into the mix, in addition to a partnership with a local school. She later led student trips to Morocco in 2017 and 2019, making wonderful connections along the way.

“Organizing a multi-country international trip for 20 high school students is no small feat, but Ms. Sorger made it look effortless. Years ago she took us on an unforgettable trip across Spain and Morocco, seamlessly organizing everything from the ferry travel across the Straits of Gibraltar to incredible historical sites and authentic local meals in cities along the way. She brought the history she taught us in the classroom to life on this trip! I still look back on our trip as one of the best experiences of high school. Any group is lucky to travel under her guidance!”

After Nicole’s recent sabbatical year living in Berlin, she fell back in love with the art of travel, planning all of the details with a particular eye towards local history and culture. Exploring new corners of Europe each month felt like a new beginning, and a reminder of the beauty in fresh destinations. You can read her blog posts about that life-changing year at www.nicolesorger.com.

Morocco in March 2027 is the first. Argentina follows in 2028, Uzbekistan in 2029. If any of that strikes a chord, drop a note to Nicole here, or sign up on an interest list for more information.

Questions we get

FAQs

Comfortable walking is the requirement. Medinas are cobbled, occasionally stepped, and best seen on foot — expect two to four miles across a full day, broken up by sitting down and eating. The hikes are gentle to moderate on forest tracks; sneakers are fine and hiking boots are not required. Pace can be adjusted for the group, and there is no shame in taking an afternoon off. If you have a specific concern — knees, altitude, heat — write and ask. We will tell you honestly whether a given trip suits.

Prices are based on two travelers sharing a room. Coming solo is the norm — we’ll match you with a roommate for the trip — but if you’d rather have space of your own, that’s a $1,000 single supplement.

Riads are small and their rooms vary a great deal, so the exact allocation is set once the group is confirmed — and we will tell you which room is yours before you pack.

Included: all hotels, meals, domestic travel, guides, tips and entrance fees.

Not included: travel insurance, which is required of every traveler, and international flights from your city of origin.

For insurance, compare policies at Squaremouth — an independent marketplace that lets you weigh several insurers side by side. International flights you book yourself, with our recommended routing and timings to work from, so you keep your own miles, seats and flexibility.

Morocco is $3,900 per traveler for the 7-day option and $4,500 for the 9-day, both based on two sharing; a room of your own is $1,000 more. A $750 deposit is due by November 1, 2026, with the balance due January 15, 2027.

Just make a note of any dietary needs when you sign up, and we’ll let the restaurants know in advance. Vegetarian, dairy-free, gluten-free and kosher style are all available options.

For Morocco: cancel in writing on or before December 1, 2026 and everything you have paid is refunded in full. After that date, payments are non-refundable — which is what travel insurance is for, and why we require it. This does not apply if we cancel; see below.

You may pass your place to someone else who meets the group criteria up to 45 days before departure, at no charge. And if we cancel — if the group does not reach ten travelers — we will let you know as early as we can and refund everything, including the deposit.

Join the interest list. When the group opens, list members are offered places first and in order — there are only fourteen, and the first trip is likely to fill from the list alone. Joining commits you to nothing.

A place is held with a deposit. For Morocco that is $750 per traveler, due by November 1, 2026. Full prices, the payment schedule and the cancellation terms are on the Morocco page.

We are seasoned travelers of the easy-going and flexible variety, ready to explore and connect with a wider circle of fabulous women. We are not looking for a luxury experience. Our trips are filled with friends and friends of friends looking to expand their circles of sisterhood. Think word of mouth rather than Google search. Come solo and make new friends, or bring a friend along!
